One-on-One Subject Tutoring Services

EXPLORE MORE OF UMGC

University of Maryland Global Campus offers one-on-one subject tutoring at no cost via Tutor.com in a wide range of subjects for all students, including subjects for select undergraduate and graduate courses (scroll down to see the lists under each subject below). Each student has ten hours of no-cost tutoring per month, accessible directly through your course classroom. Also, the Ask LEO AI tutoring chatbot is available 24/7 and is not limited to the monthly hour allotment.

Working One-on-One with Professional & Peer Tutors

Subject tutors can help define and explain concepts, clarify examples from course content, and guide students toward understanding a particular topic.ÌýThey cannot answer specific questions related to any homework, quiz, exam, or major project. These questions should be directed to the instructor, who is the course’s primary contact.

UMGC's one-on-one tutors are all available through Tutor.com and fall into one of the following categories:

  • Professional tutors are experts in the subjects that they support and can provide examples and explanations beyond the course content. They are available for on-demand and scheduled sessions.
  • Peer tutorsÌýareÌýknowledgeable about the subjects that they support and can draw from their own learning experience in a course to assist you. They are available only for scheduled sessions for a select group of courses.

How to Access One-on-One Tutoring at No Cost

To request a one-on-one tutoring session:

  • Go to the "Academic Support" or "Resources" tab at the top of your course page.
  • Click on "Tutoring" to access UMGC's specialized Tutor.com platform.Ìý
  • Once in the Tutor.com platform, you can select the following tabs:
    • "Connect Now"Ìýto connect with a tutor at the moment (available 24/7),
    • "Schedule a Session"Ìýto schedule a time and day with a specific tutor, or
    • "Ask LEO" to get help from an AI tutor chatbot.

By clicking each topic below, you will see the list of tutoring subjects available to all students for one-on-one sessions through the Tutor.com platform, which you can access directly from your course classroom.
