Chief Academic Officer and Vice President, Global Academic Learning Enterprise Division

Biography

Amy Stevens joined UMGC as chief academic officer and vice president of the Global Academic Learning Enterprise division in May 2026. In this role, she leads the university鈥檚 academic enterprise as a globally scaled, learner-centric, data-driven, skills-based, and AI-powered organization. She is responsible for academic product strategy, portfolio stewardship, faculty excellence, and academic quality, working to align academic authority, learner experience strategy, and product execution in support of student success.

Stevens brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in large-scale academic transformation. She most recently served as vice chancellor of global experiential programs at Northeastern University, where she led the university鈥檚 global learning division during a period of rapid expansion across campuses in London, Oakland, Seattle, and New York, as well as partner sites across Europe. Prior to Northeastern, she held progressively senior leadership roles at Southern New Hampshire University, including vice president of academic resources and technology, where she oversaw academic operations and strategic initiatives that contributed to significant enrollment growth.

Earlier in her career, Stevens held leadership roles in instructional technology and faculty development, with a focus on online learning and academic effectiveness. She began her career in financial technology, developing real-time analytic systems for investment research.

Stevens holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in history and women鈥檚 studies from William Smith College, a master鈥檚 degree in teaching with technology from Marlboro College Graduate Center, and a master of fine arts in creative writing from Southern New Hampshire University. She also completed doctoral coursework and dissertation research in history at Boston College.
