The UMGC Code of Student Conduct identifies prohibited student behaviors and how we respond to them, while protecting the safety and wellbeing of the ºÚÁÏÉçÇø community.

Student Conduct will limit access to information contained in reports, but reports may not remain confidential if/when investigations warrant outreach to involved parties, witnesses, and/or Conduct Board members. Reports can be made anonymously, however that may limit Student Conduct's ability to evaluate and respond to alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct.

Yes. However, anonymous reports may limit the Student Conduct team’s ability to evaluate and respond to alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct.

In general, no. If the concerns in a report raise the potential for breaking a law, Student Conduct may consult with the Office of Legal Affairs and/or contact the appropriate authorities to file a report.

Any individual who witnesses an alleged violation can submit a report for review.

Your report should include the following:

• Reporter's name, email address,and phone number
• Name and email of the student(s) involved
• Course name and number
• Location of the incident (Stateside/Asia/Europe)
• Detailed description of the behavior in question
• What section of the Code of Student Conduct applies to the alleged prohibited behavior

When a student is reported to Student Conduct for an alleged Code violation, the process for investigating these claims is as follows:

1. A report of an alleged violation of the Code of Student Conduct is submitted to sacoc@umgc.edu.
2. An initial review of the alleged violation is completed by Student Conduct, which may include contacting the reporting party.
3. Following the initial review and based on the reported behavior, Student Conduct will decide whether to move forward to a formal Code process.
4. For cases that move forward to a formal Code review, students will have the opportunity for a one-on-one meeting with a member of Student Conduct or to appear before a three-person committee.
5. At the conclusion of the formal Code process, students will be found responsible or not responsible, and if found responsible, will be assigned one or more sanctions.

Yes. Students can appeal decisions based upon the "grounds for appeal" listed in the Code of Student Conduct procedures.
