Thank you for your interest in University of Maryland Global Campus SALUTE Honor Society. UMGC is grateful for your service to our nation and congratulates you on your academic success.
The principle behind SALUTE, which stands for SALUԾٲTܳٱExcellence, is to recognize academic success among our student veterans.
Qualifications
Undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 12 credits of coursework and earned a GPA of 3.00 or higher and graduate students who have completed 12 credits of graduate work (or the equivalent) and earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to apply. All applicants must also
Qualify as military or veteran students under locally derived and maintained definitions
Have served or currently be serving in the military, National Guard, or reserves or, if no longer serving, have been honorably discharged from service
Maintain the highest ethical standards
Meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
Served as a One2One mentor for at least the last six months
Posted verifiable feedback on Vessey VRC articles or the social wall at least twice per month
Served as a volunteer consistently over the past six months

Application Submission Deadlines
- Summer: July 10
- Fall: October 10
- Spring: March 10
Selection
Each semester UMGC SALUTE reviews all applications and submits approved applicant packets to national headquarters in bulk within two weeks of the application cut-off dates.
The 25 top-performing applicants are selected for membership and informed via e-mail.
