Following is an example of a template used by advisors at University of Maryland Global Campus's Effective Writing Center to give students feedback on their work. Please note the following:
- Advisors may not be experts in the topic your paper covers
- Advisors will not make any judgment about the grade your paper may receive
- Advisors do not copyedit papers; sections of your paper will be used to model the editing you should do
- Advisors know only as much about the assignment that you share; please provide an assignment description in the submission form
Your advice will be delivered in two separate documents:
A Summary Feedback Form
A copy of your submitted document with comments from your tutor.听听
All advice can be retrieved from the 鈥淢y Account鈥 section of your Tutor.com profile, accessed from the 鈥淭utoring鈥 link under 鈥淎cademic Support鈥 in the classroom.
Summary Feedback Form
Your Summary Feedback Form is presented in five sections:
Thesis Statement
Developing Ideas听
Essay Structure
Research/citation
Grammar/Mechanics
In each of these sections, you鈥檒l be provided with an overall description of that aspect of your writing, as well as detailed feedback and relevant additional resources.听 This document can be downloaded as a PDF as well, should you wish to save it elsewhere.

In addition, you鈥檒l receive your Reviewed Document, which will have targeted comments aligned to the advice you receive on the Summary Feedback Form to better illustrate your focal points during revision.
